One World Wallet

What we mean by the One World Wallet is an object or symbol that unites people in freeing their minds from the persuasions of branded goods. Brands not only dominate what we spend, they also have power over how we think. Say no to that.

We've grounded this project in art rather than brands. Bring art into your daily life instead of brands. The wallet and art work can mean all kinds of whacky ways to spend money except bowing down to the brand.

As recession bites we are going to have to do this. We have a legacy now of high prices, high priced houses, high priced food, high priced goods.

We need to support artists, groups, disadvantaged people, who may have benefited from the good times but who are also going to be hit first as the banks show just how ineffficient markets are and as credit dries up.

One World Wallet is only one of a number of projects we have planned through our new art label This is Not A Brand. We hope you will support us. We are not a charity but through our projects we intend lending support to causes that have a unifying effect on humankind and which hold out values that are robust enough for people to embrace and benefit from as the going gets tough.

The first we want to support is Amnesty International. We'll donate a Euro to Amnesty for every wallet bought here.

Even in good times individuals around the world are maltreated. We might not be able to stop that but we can make a smal lcontribution to the people who are trying, We're particularly drawn to Amnesty's awareness campaign for the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.

It‘s a time for a global conversation about human rights. To consider the values that unite us as one human family, and one global village. But it can be more.

For the last 60 years it‘s been governments that have been asked to sign the Universal Declaration.

We hope that 2008 can be the year that individuals, not just governments, sign the declaration.

We‘re hoping for one billion signatures from across the world. We want yours to be one of them.

We urge you to embrace the values and goals of the declaration. To protect the rights of your fellow global villagers. And encourage others to do the same in your communities, workplaces and schools.

Please sign the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Make your personal pledge to live your life by its principles.

Every human has rights.
