Our Members Weekly Feature

We thought it'd be good to post a little more about you all here on the home page, one week at a time. We're not an automated process here, so this is handwritten.

Deborah Christie is a consultant psychologist (don't we all need one) at various hospitals in London. Her speciality is helping children with serious obesity problems. In private she has a handbag obsession and knows there is no cure for it.

Be A Part of the Art

One world wallet is an experiment in how art might be made through collaboration and online networking Read more here.

The art will be made from contributions to the network, photo uploads, blogs posts, and the stories people tell around how they spend money. We want to focus a little attention on how to spend wisely - beyond the brand, and to foster a sense that art and design are the most valuable contributions to society.

If you are an artist or designer feel free to use the material here. Just let us know - and for starters Jon has created a few free downloads. You can see a few below.
Just scroll down.

Here's a Thumbnail of Our First Free Download

This the first free downloadable art work in the project, created by artist Jon Coffelt. He made it by installing 96 virtual wallets in our gallery in Second Life.

Why wallets? Because they go everywhere with you and because we want to put some art in your pocket.

Finding the healing effects of art in our every day life is what this social media art work is all about.

Where artists intervene

Had a great talk with Nathaniel Stern this weekend about where art and artists can intervene to make us more conscious and perhaps conscientious about how we behave. Nathaniel just staged a performance work in South Africa which involved on one RSA's leading art critics going without electricity for the day, having light supplied by two black guys hand cranking a light. The implications of what he has done are huge. Likewise what Jon has done here really deserve our attention, asking people to in… Continue
